Devlog#5: Polishing and Preparation


Development for this week.

The team is gearing up to do some basic play-testing in the coming weeks. We mainly focused on polishing for this week and any last minute additions that we'd like feedback on.

Level Design

The team was heavily focused on finishing the first area of the game as the play-test will take place here. The houses and most of the player model have been textured, and the actual area has had a bit of a redesign to better fit our game. We have based the design of the first town off of real Australian towns and have tried to keep a horror aesthetic in mind.The goal is to make the player feel as if they're in a desolate town devoid of life. After we have a solid foundation for the feel of the town we will implement enemies, though they will be few and far between in the beginning of the game.



Gameplay

With the implementation of a combat system and health system, we will now be able to add some combat scenarios to our game. We will set up some basic ones for the player to face during the play-test and hopefully we will be able to sufficiently scare the player while providing a sufficient challenge.  

The Future

Next week we will discuss more of the work that we will put into the play-test. By then the opening area should be mostly complete and the game will feature some combat encounters, possibly a working Inventory system as well. Stay tuned for more updates in the coming weeks!
